Selected prison poetry

This introductory discussion will frame the topic of prison abolition for the rest of the series. The first half of the session will be led by Dr Sam Shpall (Philosophy), who will guide participants through the central ideas of Shelby’s text. The second half will be led by Dr Jedidiah Evans (English). This part of the discussion will examine Shelby’s ideas in relation to selected poems by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated writers.

Readings will be sent to participants upon registration.
